Welcome to the Family WERTZ Web Page. I just wanted to take a few moments to introduce you to the site. First of all, this is designed to be a dynamic site with articles and information changing fairly frequently. We update the page in several ways.
The Breaking News module is updated every week or two depending on the number of queries and articles that are submitted by our researching cousins.
Each month we add at least one new entries in the Family Spotlight module. In the first spotlight we focus on one of the Wertz researchers. With the World Wide Web we have a wonderful opportunity to meet more of our family cousins than ever imagined possible, but it is usually at a long distance, and only in short paragraphs. The Family Spotlight gives us the chance to get to know each other a little better.
In the second spotlight we feature one of our common ancestors. Sometimes we are able to share quite a lot about the individual. At other times we know little, and are hoping others can fill in the blanks.
We update the Wertz Newsletter module quarterly with an overview of the contents of that quarter's newsletter.
Along with these scheduled updates, the Reunion and Events, Wertz Cousins, and Research Links, modules are updated on an on going basis (whenever new information is available).
Following twenty years of family research, Mike and Carolyn created and published "The Family WERTZ" CD. It contains a complete library of Wertz ancestral records and family history. The Family Wertz CD module provides an introduction and overview of the CD contents.
Email had changed the face of letter writing. Messages can be sent and an answer received on the same day. But sometimes that is not fast enough, we really need to engage in an ongoing conversation. To assist, the Family WERTZ Web Page includes our own private Wertz Family Chat Room. The best way to use this feature is to arrange with one or more of the cousins to meet them in the Chat Room at a designated time. Once there, we can enjoy a shared conversation with each other, and without the rest of the world looking in.
The Family WERTZ Web Page is still in its infancy. No doubt features will be added and formats changed, but the real value and success of this research tool is not as much in what Carolyn and I do with it, but in how we all, as an extended family, use it. And please remember, I am not a professional web page programmer. Your input, comments, and suggestions are eagerly desired and always welcome.
