The 1880 Census records six Wirt families in York County, Nebraska, who were from Ohio or Pennsylvania. We do not have parents for any of these families in our files. Who were they??

And how are they related to each other?

If we just guess relationships, based on ages and palaces of birth of the Wirt males, we might suspect that we have at least three different sets of families here.

First, George and Mary Wirt are obviously the parents of Aaron Wirt. Could they also be the parents of physician William Wirt? But then how is minister D.F. Rodaubh related? The birthplaces of his parents do not match those given for William Wirt, although the Census says they are brothers. AND brothers generally have the same surname, so there has to be some error in this listing. George Wirt was born in PA, and his wife Mary in Ohio, which matches the parents of born Aaron and William Wirt.

Second, it is possible that Coffman C. Wirt, Thomas D. Wirt, and Peter W. Wirt were all brothers. They, and their parents were all born in PA, and ages 57, 47, and 45, could certainly fit into one family of siblings.

Third, this leaves G. W. Wirt, born in Ohio, with parents both born in Ohio, as the odd man. Was he related to any of the above, or just happened to settle in the same county?

Any clues to the parentage of any of these families would be appreciated.
