In Newsletter #43, pages 8 and 9, we wrote about the Charles S. Wertz, 1873-1959, son of Samuel Wertz and Ellen Nepper.

Betty Palm has records of the Blair County Wertz families which show that the father of this Charles Wertz was Samuel Calvin Wertz, son of Solomon Wertz and Mary Ann Bouslaugh. And that Mary Ellen Nepper Wertz was a daughter of Charles Nepper.

Thus the 1880 Blair County census record we found for "C. Wertz, age 30; with wife Mary E., age 28, and 4 children is most certainly for this Samuel Calvin Wertz family.

Our first guess that this Charles Wertz is a grandson of Solomon Wertz, 1814-1874, and Mary Ann Bouslough was correct! More records on this family can be found in Wertz Newsletter #32, page 3.
